Earlier this morning it was announced that former UM standout and current Redskins Safety Sean Taylor has died from complications of a gunshot wound. This is a huge loss for all of Hurricane and Redskin nations. I personally am in shock over this situation. My heart is truly broken for Sean's young daughter Jackie. My prayers are with the Taylor family in this time of need!! On behalf of all of Hurricane Nation, we all love you Sean!!

We're Behind You Sean!!

Once again I have to blog about a senseless act of violence involving a U alumni. Last night former Cane Sean Taylor was shot in his home in Miami. There are scattered reports right now, but it appears that Sean lost alot of blood and is in a coma. Regardless of the lack of reliable information, the truth is that Sean Taylor is fighting for his life. I want to send out all of my prayers, thoughts and condolences to Sean and his family. I believe in my heart that #26 will show the fight that he learned at the U and pull through this thing!! We are all behind you Sean!!

Put A Fork In It!!

I never thought that I would ever utter these words, but thank God it's over. I've always had the "at least there is next week" mentality, however I'm glad that we won't be going to the "Nut" bowl to most likely get beat down by a Pac 10 scrub team. I know it's harsh, but it's true. This season was a disaster of Biblical proportions, and it's better off being buried as it is!! Contrary to what alot of Cane fans believe, this was not about heart, it was about lack of talent and a losing mentality drilled into their heads by a lame duck coach!! I was in Blacksburg last week and saw it for myself. We ran out of gas late in the game and didn't have the talent to finish off the come back!! So what was the problem in my opinion??

1) Dropped Passes: Game after game this reciever corps dropped balls, which were right in their laps!
2) Inconsistent QB play: Alot of it was based on WR play, Kyle Wright trying to fit balls into double and triple coverage and no dependable back up for #3!!
3) A very disapointing defense: This was supposed to be a National Championship caliber defense, instead they gave up over 40 points 2 weeks in a row, couldn't stop Tashard Choice in the 4th qtr. and gave up 51 to OU!! Alot of the issue was that the offense never allowed them to rest, but still 51/48/44 points???
4) Baby J: What happened to Baby J?? This was a replay of Tyrone Moss!!
5) Bad play calling: Not all of the time, but occasionally this year, we looked like Cokers Canes with our play calling!!
Now that I have given my reasons that we fell apart, I'm ready to let go of "07 and look forward to "08. I know that next season probably won't be much better, but at least I can hope!! We have a hell of a class coming in next year and hopefully this trend will continue in the next few years. I think "09 will be the start of the turn around as do most Cane fans, so hopefully we can pull off a few upsets in "08 to hold us over!! GO CANES!!!!

Welcome to The Great Abyss!!

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to welcome you to the abyss, the bottom of the barrel, the seventh circle of Hell. The excitement was there, the mood was right, the lights were shining and 4 hours after the game I'm still waiting for the Hurricanes to show up for the game. It's official, the most humiliating defeat in the history of the OB. Way to play for the old girl fellas. I'm glad that these guys understand the history of the old stadium and played their hearts out in her finale. Ok now, let's be real. This team is pathetic!! None of these players deserve to be here and none of them have a clue what this stadium has meant to this program. I can't believe that I have allowed myself to be the delusional fan this year. I predicted 10-2, with a possible BCS bowl birth!! What was I smoking?? Now here is reality, this team is mediocre at best, with the exception of Duke, we are the worst team in the conference!! I seriously doubt that we could beat any of the teams in the Atlantic side of the ACC (we shouldn't have beaten FSU)!! Hate all you want but deep down you know it's true!! This is as low as it gets!! 48-0!!! Did I mention that we just lost 48-0!! I am totally ashamed of this team. When you have Benny Blades on TV trashing this team, you know it's bad. You had "The Rock" in the booth talking about rebuilding, but did he believe it. I like Randy Shannon and I think he will get us back in the hunt, but the playcalling was pretty lame. UVA lived in our territory the entire game, a blocked punt, poor tackling, turnovers, ridiculous dropped catches, no energy and horendous play by the secondary cost us the game. Did I leave anything out?? I have never been so embarrased in my time as a Hurricane fan in my life. This was worse than the Peach Bowl in "05 and the beat down by Louisville last year put together. I'm seriously thinking about burning my ticket to the VT game next week. Anyways, I'm done talking about this one!! I would like to thank the Hurrican'ts for ruining another Saturday for Cane Nation!!

What The F*&k Was That???

Once again I have to blog after a nightmare of a football game. 1 for 14 Kirby??? Are you serious?? What the f*&k was that?? I honestly have to wonder if you are a full ride scholarship possesing athlete at a major university or a "Pop Warner" sunday league quarterback!! Can somebody please explain to me how this guy ended up at the U or any university for that matter?? I have never seen anyone so scared on the football field in my life!! Period!! If there is a God in heaven please don't ever let this guy touch the football again!! As for the Hurricane fans out there criticizing the coaching staff, shut up!! 3 first half interceptions!! Of course they ran the ball every play, so would I!! Sadly we had a better chance of winning by running the ball every day than we did with Freeman throwing the ball. FSU got the last laugh even though they lost by hurting Wright!! My fellow blogger Cane 305 said that Kyle Wright playing with an amputated foot would give us a better chance, well I'm saying Kyle Wright in a full body cast, in a coma would give us a better chance than Freeman. I'm not even going to talk about the missed field goal because we NEVER should have needed a field goal in OT to beat NC state!! I pray to God that we at least show up to honor the OB next week, please show some pride in yourselves Miami!! I tried to get off work but couldn't, I will be in Blacksburg next week though. I really hope that we don't get humiliated. Oh well though, you're either a fan or you're not and I can't give up on the Canes!! I still blindly believe that we can pull off a miracle in November, but it doesn't look good!! GO CANES!!!
