"2007" What I Expect

Well once again, as the new college football season rapidly approaches, The Caneiac returns!!! I appologize for my lack of activity as of late, I recieved a promotion on my job and will be moving to Wash. DC next week. Unfortunately for me, I will have to miss some games this year. I have to say I was really looking forward to traveling to Norman OK. for the U vs OU clash, but it wasn't in the cards for me I guess. Anyways for my first posting in a while I have been inspired by my fellow blogger Cane 305 and my co-workers "How will Miami do this year?" question to give my prediction for the Canes 2007 campaign:

Game 1-To start things off we have Marshall on what will probably be a muggy September afternoon in the OB. For alot of Cane faithful out there with no knowledge of Marshall it is easy to assume that this will be an "easy W" but not so fast. I'm not saying Marshall will beat Miami, but I will say it will be tougher than most expect. Marshall is a scrappy team with alot of pride and unlike most lesser opponents "they will not be intimidated!!!!" Over the last few years MU has faced the likes of Ohio State,WVU,VT and Tenessee and they gave the "Suckeyes" quite a scare a couple years back. I think they will play tough early but fade in the second half. My prediction:

Miami 34

Marshall 6

Game 2- The competition raises big time in week two, as the Canes travel to Norman OK. to renew a rivalry with the team that we smacked around quite a bit in the 80's "The Oklahoma Sooners". Sure OU is talented and coming off a BCS season, but I think the Canes are going to go into Norman and establish ourselves as a national force once again. I think the Canes break the top 25 for the first time since the debacle in Louisville last season. My prediction:

Miami 17

OU 13

Game 3- Beat Down!!!Not even worth my thought!!

Miami 52

FI-Who O

Game 4- A Thursday night affair in the OB is where I think the canes lose focus and get humbled. Coming into the Thursday night game with the Aggies, i think an overconfident 3-0 Cane team will be riding the emotional wave of a win over OU and underestimate a dangerous and potent A&M offensive attack. I think we lose any National Title aspirations in Miami on September 20th. My Prediction:

Miami 24

TA&M 28

Game 5- In the first game of October a down but refocused Hurricane team freshly removed from the top 25 again take out their frustrations on a Duke team that has used their almost monumental upset of the U last season to motivate themselves. Well not this season, this coach or this team. The Canes will punish the Blue Devils for thinking that they can EVER beat the Canes.

Miami 56

Duke 3

Game 6-This one should be interesting because of the story lines. Miami travels to Chapel Hill to face Butch Davis and his boys the UNC Tarheels. Say what you want, but I guarantee Mr. Davis will be motivated to have a good showing against a Miami team that essentially passed on him during the off-season. Although Butch is working miracles with his recruiting and this team may be dangerous in a couple years, not this year! The Heels hang around for a while but the Canes leave them behind:

Miami 30

UNC 10

Game 7- The Canes return to the OB to face the Yellow Jackets. For some reason everyone is on GT's nuts, picking them over us. They lost their offensive coordinator,QB and freakish WR. I don't see it, they weren't that good last year(one of 90% of the teams we should have beat last season). I think this will be a good game but nothing to write home about.

Miami 27

GT 17

Game 8-We travel to Talahassee to take on our most hated enemy the FSU Seminoles. Bottom line here I can't take another loss, Randy Shannon can't take another loss and this team can't take another loss to these clowns. This is our year, unfortunately it will be in "Dope" Campbell Stadium, the home of the most classless fans in the game. The Noles will go down this year"Bet on it"

Miami 20

FSU 13

Game 9-Back home for a showdown with the NC state Wolf Pack. Honestly this game concerns me, simply because I don't know alot about the Pack. Last year they were a little bit like us UNPREDICTABLE, however when they looked good they looked real good and they also looked really bad at times. I don't think they will cause us any trouble, however I'll be on my guard leading up to this one.

Miami 28

NC State 10

Game 10-The Canes host the Cavaliers with revenge on their minds after last years embarrasing 17-7 loss in Charlottesville VA. I don't think this one will be close and I hope those obnoxious fans in Charlottesville hate every minute of it.

Miami 38

UVA 7

Game 11-A top 15 ranked Hurricanes team travels Blacksburg to face another hated foe, The Virginia Tech Hokies. Let me make this clear, I despise the Hokies and I hate saying this but we won't make it out of Lane Stadium with a win this year. The last time we went to Lane Stadium we humiliated the Hokies 27-7 and they will be after revenge. I don't think this team is as good as everyone else thinks they are but I do think they will be a little bit better than us on that November night in Blacksburg. In addition they will be riding the emotion of the tradgedy that occured all season.

Miami 17

VT 24

Game 12-The Canes head farther north to Chestnut Hill to face old Big East foe Boston College. I think the Canes finish the year with a win, but it won't be easy, namely because we have to win at a stadium where our average margin of victory is 4. In 2001 the greatest team of all time needed an Ed Reed int. return to hold off the Eagles.

Miami 21

BC 17

Bowl Game-A 10-2 record will not be enough to get the Canes into the ACC championship game or BCS game, but it will signal to the world that the U is back. In the end I see Jacksonville and the Gator bowl in the crystal ball where we will face a depressed and discouraged WVU team that will have pissed away a shot at the National Title with losses to Louisville, Rutgers and maybe Maryland. I think our defense is fast enough to contain White and Slaton and force a passing game by WVU, by the way thats like throwing the sheep to the wolves. The U caps off an 11 win season and becomes a sexy pick for the "08" champions.

Miami 35

WVU 24

That's my picks, if you don't like 'em find another blog!! Go Canes!!
