A Merry Christmas To U

T'was the night before Christmas and all people could do
Is find crazy reasons to hate on the U!

The 5 National Title trophy's were placed in the case with care
So that all these haters could do nothing but look stupid and stare!

The Canes were all nestled nice and snug in their beds
As visions of next season danced in their heads!

And Coach Shannon pulled out his playbook and puts on his thinking cap
To figure out someway to clean up Coach Cokers crap!

The media has a field day trying to dig Miami's grave
The downfall of the Canes is what it seems that they all crave!

But just beyond Fort Lauderdale, down at Coral Gabes
There stands the mighty Hurricanes with a middle finger raised!

We've been down before and We've seen some better days
But we always seem to come back like a ghost from the grave.

So this Christmas laugh and mock us because we know this storm will pass
and soon we'll be back on top and we'll be screaming Kiss our ass!!!!!

Merry Christmas

The Blueprint

Well now that the new coach is in place and we know where he is coming from allow me to make a few suggestions about how to turn this MESS around. Number one we need to lose this " We're the U fear us " mindset. I know many Cane fans cringe when they hear it but let's be real for a minute, that pathetic excuse for a team that we threw out there all season is NOT the U. Stomping on Louisville's logo and getting our asses whipped on the field is NOT the U. Talking trash and not backing it up is NOT the U. Period!! We need to lose this " We're Miami we dont need to play hard" attitude. The whole country is laughing at us and even though we won't admit it, we brought it on our selves. We need to get out of this " Our past speaks for us" mentality. Our past is not gonna help us win any games next year, our past didn't keep us from losing 6 games this year and our past didn't land us a spot in the "Smurf Bowl" this year!! Michael Irvin and Jim Kelly are not gonna come out of the tunnel at the OB and lead us to victory!! This squad needs to earn respect!! Teams are not afraid of this team, they aren't intimidated!! Defenses are not worried about an offense that ranked in the low 80's in the NCAA. I'm sorry but the truth hurts sometimes!! This team needs to get the lead out of their asses and make some plays. Look I know that this team went through alot this year but come on someone needs to be honest with them and I hope it's Randy Shannon. We need to shut our mouths and play ball,we don;t need to be stomping on logos and dancing around on peoples fields, we haven't earned it!! This Miami team needs to focus on fundamentals. We don't need to worry about swagger right now,we are a 6-6 football team. I'm so tired of hearing about our swagger,Just play ball!! Beat someone on the field and then stomp on their logo. The great Miami teams of the past didn't have to generate swagger, they just went out on the field and stomped your teeth down your throat. This team is spoiled and soft and Randy Shannon needs to run and practice it out of them. This team needs a kick in the ass and I think Coach Shannon has just the right attitude to get it done. Regardless I'm looking for big changes this season and I hope this team gets a dose of reality: "Respect is not free, It's earned"...GO CANES

Where are the Voltures now???

Okay Cane fans, after a week at a conflict management seminar I'm back to post my thoughts. My first order of buisness is to personally thank the Knicks and Nuggets for giving the press something negative to write about that doesn't involve the U. Oh wait a minute thats right less than 48 hours later you can hardly find a single article or image from the whole brawl. On Sportscenter and ESPNnews they are more concerned about Gilbert Arenas scoring 60 points than the brawl!!! Now 48 hours after our brawl with FIU there were Web casts, DVD's, VHS and PS2 games available about the brawl. Any station you turned to was trashing the U for a month straight, but the NBA "Oh it was the heat of the moment". It makes me sick to think that Carmelo Anthony (who by the way showed how tough he is by sucker punching a Knicks player and then running away like a BITCH) may only get a 4 game suspension but these same people defending Anthony are the ones who wanted 18,19, and 20 year old kids kicked out of school forever for the same thing!!! I guess when you are a professional you don't get held to high standards like college huh?? When a pro gets in a fight he's being emotional but when a college athlete gets in a fight he's a thug and a punk!! But wait a minute it's only kids at the U that are thugs and Gangstas Right?? Where are the people calling for the Knicks and Nuggets players to be removed from the team?? Where are the people calling for the Knicks and Nuggets to shut down their basketball programs( Woody Hayes called for the U to shut down it's football program on Cold Pizza). Where are the voltures who were looking for our rotting carcass after the Orange Brawl. Where are the voltures now?? I guess the NBA is too valuable to the "American" public and the U is expendable!!! It's a shame and It's a smack in the face of the U. Well let me tell you something right now thu U isn't going anywhere and the more you hate us the stronger we get!!! GO CANES!!!!

Game On!!!

Well now that all the mystery about our new head coach is lifted we can focus on the task at hand. The Nevada Wolf Pack. The MPC Computers bowl on December 31, 2006 marks the first meeting between these two programs and Miami's first trip to Boise ID. Now I've always heard it said that it's important to know your enemy so here is a little info on the "Pack". Nevada is a member of the WAC(Western Athletic Conference) which boasts such "powerhouses" as Boise st. and Fresno st. This season the Wolf pack posted a 8-4 (5-3) record with "key" wins coming over Northwestern and Colorado State. "Key" losses came at the hands of #12 Boise ST.(38-7) and #25 Arizona ST. ( 52-28). Nevada is one of the toughest opponents to beat at home in Reno but on the road they are all but invinsible. Throughout the year Nevada has been very vulnerable to the big play and struggle against fast recievers. By the numbers they are not too bad defensively:
Total Defense: 36th( Avg. 327 yds per game and 19 pts per game)
Passing Defense: 42nd( AVG. 190 yds per game)
Rushing: 55th (Avg. 136 yds per game)

Offensively:
1) Total: 19th (Avg. 363 yds per game and 30 pts. per game)
2) Passing: 76th (Avg. 185 yds. per game)
3) Rushing: 25th ( Avg.177 yds. per game)

Basically it breaks down like this Nevada has two good backs( Robert Hubbard and Luke Lippencutt) who have combined for 936 and 456 yards respectively, the problem is we are the third ranked rush defense in the country and I think we will be way too physical for them. They have no chance through the air(see passing offense above) and that 30 points per game should drop significantly. On our side of the ball "Baby J" and T-Moss should have a field day with this defense and wrack up big numbers and our speed at WR should present favorable matchups, their DB's have no chance to match our speed. I think Greg Olsen will get alot of touches in this game because #1 they can't match up and #2 we want him to stick around for 2007. In the end I think this will be a ground war on the freezing "smurf turf" and I see Miami prevailing 27-10.

WE BELIEVE!!!

Okay I know I was very critical of UM deciding to hire Randy Shannon as our new head coach, but after seeing the press conference for the first time today I have to say I'm impressed.Very Impressed!!! Not only that but I've read all of the comments of bloggers around the country bashing Randy and it made me realize how perfect this is. As I watched him at that podium i couldn't help but notice his command presence,it was his conference, his podium and most importantly his team. This guy is young, energetic, charismatic and confident. As he spoke the most amazing thing happened to me "I belived every word he said"!! Not like Larry Cokers weekly "we're getting better" speech. When he said we're on the rise I believed him!! The longer he spoke the more I realized that this guy is THE U!! He's young, hip and he has a swagger about him that is contagious. He is a disciplinarian and a motivator(Hell it worked on me) and I believe he'll get this ship turned around fast. So let me be the first to swallow my pride and apologize to Coach Shannon for my frustration earlier. I do believe that he is the right man for the job and I'm excited about 2007 and beyond.
Randy Shannon is Miami,He is the Hurricanes and He is our Head Coach and if you don't like it you can kiss our UM asses. The bottom line is we got an us against the world coach at an us against the world football program....Hey Coach lead us to the promised land.....GO CANES

What a joke!!!

I know some hurricane fans are genuinely happy about this new hire and some are saving their anger for later, well I'm not them. Personally I think this hire is bullshit!! I think Dee and Shalala are completely incompitent. First of all this hire is about money. The bottom line is they didn't want to pony up any dough for a top notch candidate. Secondly this is a use or lose situation, either Miami hired Shannon as head coach or he walks(prbably to FIU) and we lose his connections to south Florida. Look don't get me wrong I like Randy and I'm appreciative of all he's done at the U but come on this hire makes no sense. My question is this if we are terrible on offense then why would you think that hiring a defensive coordinator would fix our problems?? I guess I'm trying to figure out where all of the optimism I'm reading is coming from around Cane Nation. I just don't see it!! I mean as a long time Hurricanes fan I'm happy for Randy, he's one of our own and I want him to succeed but to hire some one with ZERO head coaching experience at this point in our programs history doesn't seem to be the smartest idea. I'm so frustrated with this hire I can't see straight. Now having gotten that off my chest allow me to say "Congratulations Coach" and welcome to the big time. For what it's worth I hope Coach Shannon proves me wrong and turns this program around. For now as any true Cane fan should do I'll get behind our man and give himall the respect in the world. Hey I know my opinion only counts for so much but Coach Shannon I have a few suggestions for you:
1) Hire the best offensive coordinator that you can find.
2) Put a wall around south Florida and seal it off tight.
3) Get rid of Rich Olsen and burn his playbook.
4) Get into training camp and put your foot in some asses!!
Anyways at the end of the day all we have is our opinions and if you don't like mine allow me to show you my "OOOH WELL" face....GO CANES

Are You Kidding Me!!

When I think of Bernie Kosar I think of a legend at QBU, I also think of his cool white guy afro. What I dont think about is Bernie Kosar Head Coach of the Miami Hurricanes! Are you freaking kidding me?? You honestly want me to believe that the best we can come up with is Bernie Kosar,Mike Leach and Randy Shannon?? Thats It!! The University of Miami, the five time national champions, the U and all we got is a former player,a defensive coordinator and an unproven coach from a scrub program!! This is pathetic!! It really is a nightmare!! No big name,no hot up and coming coach,no old legend trying to return to glory!! The best option we got is a coach whose team is playing in the Insight Bowl!! Somebody please wake me up when this dream is over. In all honesty this just make me more angry at Paul Dee and Donna Shalala(or however the hell else you spell it) for dragging their asses and not getting rid of Larry Coker sooner. Why didn't we make a move for Butch Davis?? Not only did we not get him ,now we have to play against him EVERY year!! You can't convince me that Davis wanted to go to UNC. I guess whats done is done but how did we screw that up?? Now were stuck in a situation where we put all our eggs in one basket(Greg Shiano) and the basket broke on us. I personally believe that we thoght Shiano would come falling into our arms and leave Rutgers behind but when he didn't we had no contengency plan. Just a side note Hey Paul and Donna this might be the U but you still have to use some negotiating skills, coaches don't just fall into your lap these days. So now were stuck with mediocre candidates like Bernie Kosar.
I know I pumped Mike Leach up yesterday but lets be honest he's no Butch Davis. I guess my question is "why is the U cruising down B-list coach highway looking for a date??We are still Miami!!!

What about Leach??

Okay I'll admit mike Leach was not on my personal wish list for the Canes, but I read on the allcanes blog today that he is a serious contender for the job. Being the skeptic that I am I checked some other sorces on the internet which confirmed that he has been contacted. Since this could be our new coach I did some research and here is what I got:Leach's offense produced school records in nearly every passing category in 2000, but surpassed those numbers in each of the last four seasons. His five teams have combined for over 150 team and individual records at Tech. Last season, the Red Raiders won the NCAA Passing Title for the third year in a row and led the nation in completions and attempts. Tech also won its second-straight NCAA Total Offense Title. The Red Raiders have improved their total offensive numbers from 324.8 yards per game to 491.7 yards per game since Leach's arrival. The last five seasons rank as the top five all-time at Tech in total offense, while scoring went from 23 points per game in 1999 to 36.2 points last season. The most significant increase has been in the passing game, where the Red Raiders averaged 399.7 yards per game in 2004 compared to 175.4 yards in 1999. His offense is a spread type offense, but unlike many other spread offenses like WVU or Wake Forest this offense is a pass first high octane offense. Just the type of offense the U is accustomed to. It's real simple after looking at the numbers Mike Leach is a offensive genious and if we can hold onto Randy Shannon this has the makings of a college football jugernot.

"The U" a coaches nightmare??

Look I know that the U is down and it will take some work but I couldn't believe when i heard a commentator say that "Miami is a coaching nightmare" I was furious. I've been listening to all of these "experts" trash UM for weeks and I think it's ridiculous. All they keep saying is that we have "issues" and "problems" at Miami. Okay what are they exactly?? Are we on probation or under investigation? Is the brawl 2 months ago still an issue to anyone except the snakes in the press?? Is stomping on Louisville's logo and losing the game going to affect any of our games next year?? Is the tragic murder of Bryan Pata gonna cause the rest of the players to curl up in a ball and refuse to play?? Are the Canes so furious and crushed over the Larry Coker firing that they will refuse to play next year?? What are the big problems at the U??? Maybe it's a 6-6 season in which we could have realistically won 11 games( we lost 5 conference games by a combined 28 points). The only issues I see are a bunch of spoiled athletes who underachieved under a clueless and underqualified coaching regime. I also see a bunch of kids who could get away with murder and walk all over "Nice Guy Larry". Anytime they made a mistake all they got was two claps and a fist pump. I don't see any issues that can't be fixed by the RIGHT head coach. I guess I'm just sick of the Miami haters running their mouths like they do everytime we have a down year, but in August they'll pick us to win the ACC!!" It's sickening" Why don't you all go write about FSU(now thats a program with some problems).
