" Is Nix the Fix??"

Well finally after weeks of keeping the U faithful in the dark the vail has been lifted and GT offensive coordinator Patrick Nix is standing behind it. So now the question is " Is Nix the Fix??". Honestly I don't know too much about this guy, but what I do know is that his Yellow Jacket offense put up 30 points on our stingy defense this year, he went to the ACC championship game with a true "DR. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde QB( Reggie Ball) and his backup QB put up over 300 passing yards against WVU in the Gator Bowl. Honestly all I can do now is trust that Coach Shannon knows what he's doing. There are now 223 days until we kickoff the season with Marshall and this staff has alot of work to do to right this ship. I don't really know what kind of system Coach Nix wants to run but if i was Kyle Wright I would be looking over my shoulder because Kirbie Freeman is right there with him. That battle should be heated all spring. In my opinion i think Kyle Wright has the tools to be a big time QB but if Coach Nix can't help him develop he could wind up being a talented player riding the pine. Anyways I'm glad that we have our guy, even though this is an "Interesting" choice to say the least. Maybe not knowing much about him will allow most Cane fans to at least give him a chance. As for me I'm ready to face the dreaded oblivion of the off season and come fall I'll be hoping that Coach Shannon, Coach Nix and the rest of the coaching staff can fix at least some of our many issues. For the record let me just say one more time for the record that "I hate the off season". In closing, there
are no guarantees or promises for 2007 so the best thing to do is just BELIEVE !!!GO CANES!!!

The Caneiac says " Cut em some slack"

Alright listen up!! I know that right now there is alot of panic in Cane nation and some of the old school fans are tired of the whining but the Caneiac says" cut em some slack"!! Listen I'm an old school Cane fan, I 've been there through alot of ups and downs and i have to admit this is about as low as I've seen it get. You can't blame the fans(especially the young Cane fans )for being worried. This is uncharted territory even for the most hardcore of Cane fans. We had a terrible season, played in a terrible bowl, Let's be honest we didn't exactly get the coach we wanted, we still don't have an offensive coordinator and it seems like NOBODY is interested, our prospects are getting restless and we have a murderous schedule next year. I'm sorry hardcore canes but you can't blame the fan base for being nervous and deep down inside you're nervous too( I don't care how hardcore you are). This is something we've never really seen at the U, and I don't think it make you less of a fan to be a little irritated with the whole situation. I think being concerned makes you a great fan!! Most bandwagon fans are gone by now and I think all thats left is the true fans. I'm not saying it's okay to sit around and trash the U or anything but I do think as fans( especially fans like myself who spend thousands of dollars a year to follow the team we love) have a right to be annoyed by the collective feet dragging of the powers that be. Hey I love the Canes, I got it tattooed on my skin for life, I take this team to the grave with me, but I have to say I'm a little tired of playing the waiting game. Get us an offensive coordinator!!! This team is already on shakey ground, the last thing they need is more instability. Hate me or love me I am a true Canes fan, and because of it I can be honest and say I'm frustrated right now. In conclusion " Cut the stressed out Hurricanes fans some slack, we love them just as much as you!!!!GO CANES!!!

2007 Schedule

I'm not even gonna bother talking about the National Title game because I'd rather not make myself sick. OK I'll say this I hate the Gators but after the Suckeyes robbed us of our 6th national title in 2002 I have had a special hate oh I mean place in my heart for OSU. I guess it was a bitter sweet ending to a horrible season at the U. As far as I'm concerned OSU got what they deserved! Anyways enough of that everyone is now 0-0 and it's time to get ready for 2007 . This team has alot to prove with a new coach, no top 25 ranking and missing two key players( Greg Olsen and Jon Beason). I think we will get better, although we have a murderous schedule(see below) I'm not expecting a miracle turnaround but we will be back to form sooner than people think. Think about 1997 when we were 5-6,everyone said we would be down for a while and look what happened: 9-3 in "98, 8-4 in '99, 11-1 in "oo ( we had the same record as FSU and beat FSU but they played Oklahoma for the title and "01 we won it all. I think with the right offensive coordinator we can fix it even quicker than that. So don't fret Hurricanes fans we were further down than this in 1997 and fixed it in 4 years. Let the haters talk because it will only last a little longer the Caneiac guarantees it!!! Here is the 2007 schedule!!
September 1 Marshall, September 8, at Oklahoma, September 15 Texas A&M, September 22 at North Carolina, September 29 OPEN, October 6 FAMU(If FIU game is canceled), October 13 at Florida State, October 20 Duke, October 27, North Carolina State, November 3 at Virginia Tech, November 10 Georgia Tech, November 17 Virginia, November 22 at Boston College.
GO CANES....

The CANEIAC says"Get Ready for 2007"

I am the first to admit that 2006 was a total disaster, and that might be an understatement!! A 6-6 regular season followed by a close shave in Smurf land. I mean what has the world come to when the U is in Boise on New years Eve and Boise ST. is in Phoenix in a BCS bowl on New Years Day. Although the people of Boise were nice overall, there were plenty who took their shots at a down Hurricanes team. They went as far as to actually challenge us to come to Boise and play the Broncos. Though I admire the Broncos and loved seeing them beat the spooners, I never thought I'd see the day where Boise ST. eats their wheaties and challenges the U. This just made me realize how low we have reached. The media is licking their lips, other teams are trying to use us as stepping stones and players seem to be jumping ship left and right. However in the midst of it all Hurricane fans enter 2007 with a devilish grin on our face as if we know something that others don't. The fact of the matter is we do know something, We know that Coach Shannon has a plan and that plan does not include losing 6 games next year. We know that Coach Shannon is recruiting the hell out of south Florida,we know that the Coker and Olsen offensive circus is over and Dirk Koetter may be on his way to Coral Gables. We know that discipline and swagger are coming back to the U. The Caneiac says Miami faithful " get ready for 2007"!! Get ready for a much better offensive scheme, get ready for an attitude adjustment and get ready for a team on a mission to recalim it's glory. I GUARANTEE that 2007 WILL BE DIFFERENT!! No I'm not predicting a National Title yet but we will be on the rise next season. I think we could challenge the "Chokies" for the division title in"07 and maybe compete for a BCS birth. My point is this, If you think Miami will have another disasterous season in "07 think again!! Coach Shannon will put the fear of God in these kids and The U will have something to prove this year!!! So once again The CANEIAC says" Get Ready For 2007"....GO CANES!!

Back from the Blue

Ok Canes fans I'm back from my trip to Idaho and I have to say it was colder than it looked on TV,trust me!! I have never been so damn cold in my entire life but I'm proud of this team. No it wasn't the blowout or statement I wanted but it was a heart check for a battered and disappointed Hurricanes team,it was a bitter sweet farewell to a well liked and respected Larry Coker and it was possibly a coming out party for MVP Kirby Freeman. I know it looks like we barely beat a WAC team but trust me this was no easy task. To begin with it was 19 degrees (It felt like negative 19) with snow flurries(not your typical south beach weather) on top of that this was a very hostile crowd. Of the 28,000 fans only 2000 were Cane faithful, probably 5000 were Nevada fans, the other 21.000 were Boise State fans and they jumped right on the Wolf Pack bandwagon. By the fourth quarter the noise was deafening when the Canes offense was on the field. On top of that Nevada was playing inspired football, they were glad to be there, it was their BCS game, they were loving life. The Canes are a proud and storied program who were in essence forced into a game that we didn't even want to play. We made no money from it, it didn't help us gain exposure, and it did nothing possitive for our program. Still there will be haters who mock us and call us weak and say we should have lost but at this point in time, after the year we had,a win is a win, even if it's a squeaker against Nevada on the "Smurf Turf". Anyways like most Cane fans I can honestly say I'm glad this season is over, glad the Larry Coker era is over and glad that the Randy Shannon era begins. Hey it was rough but it's officially a new year, 2006 is over and now I'm already excited about 2007. I truly believe that there will be alot of "experts" eating their words in about 9 months. Until then talk you trash and we'll keep flying under the radar...Happy New Year Cane Nation....WE WILL RISE AGAIN!!!!
